Anonymous;
Do you know a link to watch the outsiders? I wanna watch it again but I can't remember the link and I don't have any money to buy it

No sorry, I don’t :( I know that there’s parts of the movie uploaded on YouTube (like here) but I couldn’t find a full movie link. I wish I could be of more help! Anyone else in the fandom have a link to the full movie?? Help nonnie out??

Anonymous;
I've been thinking about this a lot lately, and I just had to ask an Outsiders blog (one that hasn't been abandoned yet). How would you feel about a remake/boot of the Outsiders movie? Personally, I feel like the movie (and the cast) was great, but part of me wouldn't mind a remake/boot. It would just be interesting to see.

Hello anon! You know, I’m really glad you asked this. Because in all honesty, I’ve been thinking about this too!

I would really like to see someone re-make the Outsiders. BUT - before anyone else starts sharpening their pitchforks, let me explain myself!

I love the 1983 movie of the Outsiders a LOT. I went through a period of my life where I watched it, or at the very least a part of it, every single day. I’m not joking – my family can vouch for this. There are a lot of things about the movie that I absolutely love, and that includes the directing, the cinematography, the original movie score, and of course the actors. I think they were all perfectly suited for their roles, and that the movie did the book proud. I own two versions of it on DVD for a reason.

Me wanting them to remake the movie doesn’t mean I love the original any less, and the same goes for anyone else who wants a remake! It came out over thirty years ago. Think of how many things have evolved and changed when it comes to how films are made: the special effects, the digital technology, the advances in camera and lighting. Think of the talented directors, editors and actors who would be proud to work on this film.

A remake of a movie doesn’t render the original less valuable. If anything, it makes it more so, because everyone recognizes it as the first. As sad as it sounds, I think that the Outsiders is a story that’s getting left behind. Because as beautiful and heart-wrenching and important as it is, it just isn’t keeping up, because pop culture today moves so fast. Releasing a new Outsiders movie – with fresh eyes and ideas, not just an attempt to replicate the original – would put Ponyboy’s heartbreaking story in the limelight again, which would be awesome because it’s a story that should be heard.

Plus, just think about it – high definition photos and gifs! New up-and-coming actors and actresses to be obsessed with! A movie premiere date to count down to! New people discovering this awesome story and joining the fandom!

Oh man. I’m getting excited thinking about it. And if someone did come out with a new Outsiders movie, and for some reason you (generally speaking) didn’t like it, you shouldn’t let it change how you feel about the story or how much you love the first movie. That might be easier said than done, but that’s the whole point of stories – they speak to us personally, and at the end of the day, that’s what matters.

it’s been over thirty years and the fact that the cast still re-tweets stuff like this makes me cry
